Children of The Resurrection

Jesus replied, “Marriage is for people here on earth. But in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. And they will never die again. In this respect they will be like angels. They are children of God and children of the resurrection. Luke 20:34-36 NLT

The Sadducees tried to trap Jesus, asking a hypothetical question about a man who died childless. Fulfilling the Law, his brother married the man’s wife, but he, too, died childless. The same happened to his other brothers. The Sadducees wondered; tell us, whose wife will she be in the resurrection?

Jesus answered by explaining that those who are children of this age have a limited understanding of such matters. Saturated by the things of this world, they cannot conceive of the realities of the Kingdom of God.

But everything is different in that age to come. In the Kingdom of God there are different rules and no limits. And in that age we will have a different nature. There will be no death. No aging, corruption, decay, or sin. No stress, anxiety, worry, fear, doubt, or disease. No war, poverty, or frustration.

Already, God does not have any limits in this age. He is beyond time, He is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him. (vrs. 38) Jesus demonstrated this limitless power throughout His ministry: walking on water, healing the sick, performing miracles.

Because of Jesus, all of us can be children of the resurrection. He can free us from limits, fill us with supernatural power, and make us ready for new possibilities. We can know that nothing is impossible with God.

Today, ask God to help you grasp what it means to be children of the resurrection. Remember: As a citizen of His Kingdom, you have access to His power and authority. You’re His dear child!

Let Him give you new insights. Allow His Spirit to transform your life.
